Nine months between salaried roles: I moved from Edinburgh to the United States and finished the degree I had been studying alongside work.

• Completed the Master of Computer Applications at IGNOU, including the major project ClinicalPilot AI, a clinical research platform with dataset validation and a retrieval pipeline.
• Relocated from the United Kingdom to the United States, which is the reason for the gap rather than something that happened during it.
• Kept building through it: Python data engineering, FastAPI, and applied AI and LLM tooling, which is where the retrieval work in ClinicalPilot came from.

Built full-stack features across the Python and FastAPI services and the React interfaces of an enterprise digital twin platform, including authentication, security, testing, and AWS deployment.

• Delivered full-stack features end to end on an enterprise digital twin platform, building both the Python and FastAPI services and the React.js interfaces that visualize live twin data, covering component architecture, state management, responsive layout, and REST and GraphQL API integration.
• Implemented JWT authentication and role-based access control across API and UI, including protected routes, token handling, session management, form validation, and CORS policy for secure cross-origin communication.
• Designed Python data-handling pipelines with SQLAlchemy and Pydantic, covering schema enforcement, validation of incoming data, transformation, and SQL query optimization across MySQL and DynamoDB.
• Cut defects reaching release by 30 percent, comparing the six months before and after introducing systematic peer review, shared engineering standards, automated PyTest and Jest coverage, and a check of front-end behaviour against the API contract before anything shipped.
• Owned testing for the features I delivered, from unit coverage through manual and exploratory passes, including checking that role restrictions held at the API rather than only in the interface.
• Documented every endpoint in Swagger and OpenAPI for cross-functional use, and provisioned and operated AWS environments (EC2, S3, API Gateway, IAM) with CI/CD pipelines through Docker, Git, and Jenkins.
• Built prototypes on AWS Lambda, Cognito, Amplify, DynamoDB, SageMaker, EC2, and CloudWatch with Java 17, working through the modelling steps in Jupyter Notebook before anything was wired into the platform.

Backend systems and RESTful APIs for enterprise clients: a large-scale logistics platform with warehouse and transportation modules, the shipping and payment integrations around it, and the contract, vendor, and CRM systems alongside.

• Developed backend systems and RESTful APIs for a large-scale enterprise logistics platform, including custom warehouse management and transportation management modules, using Java 11, Java EE, Spring Boot, Jspresso, and Hibernate (JPA) with MVC and DAO patterns in a microservices architecture.
• Built and maintained the Ship Manager API and the web service integrations connecting the platform to external shipping systems and other third-party services, including payment gateways, verifying the end-to-end payment path against the provider contract before release.
• Extended contract and vendor management systems and customer relationship management applications for enterprise clients, working on business logic, data models, and APIs in Agile sprints with cross-functional teams.
• Applied test-driven development with JUnit and Mockito, reducing post-production defects, and authored test cases covering REST API contracts and business logic across unit, integration, and system testing cycles.
• Improved application response time by 25 percent on the endpoints carrying the most traffic, measured in application performance monitoring before and after, by caching what was stable, tuning the queries underneath, and rewriting the hot paths.
• Designed and optimized SQL schemas and queries on Oracle and SQL Server, and worked critical production incidents tracked in ServiceNow through structured root cause analysis, which took P1 volume down by a fifth over my last two quarters there.
